David Thompson:
David Thompson is a graduate of the Newark School of Fine Arts. He paints in oil and watercolor; the subject of these paintings being the great outdoors. He likes the color of purple and feels that red is the foundation color for most everything. He considers himself a painter from the Plein Air School of Painting, and feels that not enough painting is being done from life. He speaks passionately about art as he paints it; putting emphasis on colors and shadows, stressing the importance of the artist's vision and the realization of their observations. Art plays a role in our history, our culture, our way to learn about others, and our ability to see things that we may have missed ourselves.
Mr. Thompson has participated and continues to participate in a variety of juried exhibitions. Among them in this area of NJ, the St. Mary's Art Festival, the Highlands Art Competition, the Wilson School Art Show, and the Tewsbury Historical Society Art Competition.
